Family Therapy

Every family goes through hard seasons. Family therapy offers a supportive space to understand each other better, work through challenges together, and strengthen the relationships that matter most. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit. Many families come simply because something feels off and they want things to be better. I welcome families of all shapes and sizes, including LGBTQ+ families and adoptive families.

Common Reasons Families Seek Therapy

Communication Challenges
Conversations turn into arguments, or important things go unsaid. Therapy can help family members feel heard and understood.

Life Transitions
A move, a new baby, a job change, a child leaving home, or an aging parent can shift how a family works. Therapy can help everyone adjust together.

Divorce, Separation, and Co-Parenting
Changes in the family structure affect everyone. Therapy can support parents and children through the transition and help co-parents work together.

Blended Families
Bringing two families together can be rewarding and complicated. Therapy can help new family members build trust, set expectations, and find their place.

Adoptive Families
Adoption brings joy and its own unique questions about identity, belonging, attachment, and connection to birth families. Therapy can support parents and children at every stage, from early adjustment through the teen years and adulthood.

LGBTQ+ Families
LGBTQ+ parents, couples, and families with an LGBTQ+ child or teen deserve a therapist who understands their experiences. Therapy can offer an affirming space to strengthen relationships, navigate coming out, and handle outside stresses together.

Parenting and Parent-Child Conflict
Raising children brings questions and disagreements at every age. Therapy can help parents get on the same page and strengthen their connection with their kids.

Sibling Relationships
Conflict between siblings, whether they’re children or adults, can affect the whole family. Therapy offers a space to work through it.

Grief and Loss
When a family experiences a death or other significant loss, each person may grieve differently. Therapy can help the family support one another.

Feeling Disconnected
Sometimes families simply drift apart. Therapy can help rebuild closeness and make time for each other.

Supporting a Family Member’s Mental Health
When someone in the family is struggling with depression, anxiety, substance use, or another challenge, everyone feels the impact. Therapy can help the family understand what’s happening and support one another.

Patterns Passed Down Through Generations
Many families notice that ways of relating carry over from one generation to the next. Therapy can help families understand these patterns and choose what they want to keep.

My Approach

I combine family systems therapy, which looks at how the whole family works together, with psychodynamic therapy, which explores how past experiences shape the present. Sessions may include the whole family, a couple, or one individual, since change in one person often ripples out to everyone.
